Andrea Barbiroli searches and explores the beauty of life by examining his subject matter in fine scrutinizing detail.
His use of the camera, to dissect and capture emotional moments in microscopic floral studies, allows the viewer to absorb the minute texture, surfaces, and reality of nature.
Choosing flowers in their organic state as the focus of his work brings to mind a post modern approach to a subject that has been a passion for artists for generations. "I have always been seduced by the natural grace and power of the sexual state of the flower", says Barbiroli. "Honestly, I wanted to make something that's beautiful more beautiful".
His examination of flowers are as intimate as portraits of people. "To photograph flowers in this way is the same as staring a person in the eyes to feel his soul".
Quoting photographer David LaChappel and Richard Avedon fashion sittings as inspiration, Barbiroli brings a voice through photographs to the beauty and wonder of life.
