Bio
Theo Wurz is a former ballet dancer and award winning filmmaker.
Born from French and German parents, he learned painting and dance from an early age.
As a dancer he performed internationally, from Europe to the Far East.
As a filmmaker his specialty are women, cosmetic and fragrance. He worked in Paris for leading international cosmetic brands, like Lancôme, Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent.
While experimenting difficulty on the filming of roses for a Lancôme film, he created a new approach to photograph flowers: resulting in a picture appealing to the senses, capturing the essence of the flower, one can almost smell its genuine scent and touch its velvet feel.
Theo Wurz: “Photographers have always been attracted to flowers.
Some made amazing images with the subject, some made silly ones.
All for sure, felt the overwhelming nature of their strength and beauty, as I do.
Though, there is a fundamental paradox between how humans perceive flowers, and what photography has to offer as a process to render that perception.
Photography witnesses a frozen moment in the process of life. What I am searching for, is to picture and express the freshness and life of the flowers, instead of a frozen almost dying beauty.”
